The four-wheel drive version of the 2007 Suzuki SX4 gets about 24 miles per gallon for city driving – whether the particular car has a manual transmission or an automatic one. However, when it comes to highway driving, the automatic transmission is better, as the two-wheel drive gets anywhere from 31 to 33 miles per gallon, and the four-wheel drive gets between 29 and 30 miles per gallon.
By choosing the four-wheel drive model, drivers get the option of a brand new, three-mode set up, which means they can run it in two-wheel drive in order to achieve the best possible fuel efficiency; they can run it in all-wheel drive in order to transfer power from the front rears to the wheel rears, in the case of slick roads and slippage conditions; or they can, of course, run it in four-wheel drive mode, for icy or snowy conditions.
